Standing at the top of the lighthouse in Hirtshals gives you a spectacular, endless view of the coastline. But right beneath your feet lies a deep piece of history.

The sand dunes surrounding the lighthouse are filled with old World War II bunkers. For my children, exploring this historic concrete network feels like a giant adventure playground. For me, it is a peaceful reminder of the past. It is a beautiful contrast where history meets the wild, open sea.
